Which accessory do I need?
Three typical situations, three clear answers:
"I have a new number plate"
The magnet plates are bonded straight onto the plate with 3M VHB tape. With a new plate (a move, a change of keeper, switching from flat to 3D) you need new backing plates - the magnets on the car stay where they are.
"I have a show plate and want to hold it magnetically"
Got a show plate and want to swap it in quickly using the magnetic holder you already have? Just bond a second set of backing plates to the show plate and you are done - swapping between everyday and show plate takes seconds.
"I changed car, or a magnet cracked while tightening"
Genuine neodymium replacement magnets for when you move the system to another car, or a magnet was damaged while tightening (by overtightening the M4 screw, for instance). The backing plates on the plate stay as they are.
"I have a white bumper"
A visual upgrade: white adhesive dots for the screw heads plus a white 3D-printed plate behind the magnet. It lets the system blend into white bodywork.

Every accessory in this collection works with all FLOW DOWN® magnetic plate holders - the universal holder as well as the vehicle-specific versions (BMW, Audi, VW, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Ford). Dimensions, mounting points and magnets are identical across all versions, so you can extend your existing system or reorder wear parts.
Have a hook-and-loop holder?
The accessories in this collection are made for the magnetic holder line only. The hook-and-loop holder needs no separate spares - the hook-and-loop system is designed as a single unit.
Frequently asked questions about the accessories
When do I need replacement plates?
Whenever you get a new plate - after a move, a change of keeper, or switching from a flat to a 3D plate. The magnet plates are permanently bonded to the old plate and are discarded with it. The new plate needs new backing plates. The magnets on the bumper stay where they are.
Can I use replacement plates to switch between my everyday plate and a show plate?
Yes - that is one of the most common uses. Simply bond additional replacement plates to the show plate and you can swap between your everyday plate and the show plate in seconds. The magnetic holder on the bumper stays exactly where it is.
When do I need replacement magnets?
In most cases you will not need any - the FLOW DOWN® neodymium magnets are built for permanent use and have been driven at over 300 km/h in testing. Replacements make sense if you move the system to another car, or if a magnet was damaged during the first fitting by overtightening the M4 screw. In that case you can replace the single magnet without buying a whole new set.
Are the spare parts also compatible with vehicle-specific holders?
Yes. Every FLOW DOWN® magnetic plate holder - universal or vehicle-specific for BMW, Audi, VW, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota or Ford - uses the same magnets and backing plates. The accessories are compatible across the whole magnetic holder line.
What exactly is in the white sticker upgrade?
The set contains white adhesive dots that go straight over the screw heads of the magnets, plus a white 3D-printed plate that covers the area behind the magnet. The outer rim of the magnet stays black - that cannot be changed for production reasons - but the overall impression is noticeably lighter.
Can I fit replacement magnets myself?
Yes. Take the damaged magnet off and bolt the replacement back in the same position - the existing backing plates on the plate and the screw stickers stay as they are. We can also do it at our workshop in Essen.
