Korean tuning - where we specialise
While many suppliers concentrate on German premium brands, Hyundai N is a clear focus at FLOW DOWN®. Over the past few years the N models have gone from insider tips to fixtures of the performance scene - and we supply the range to match: vehicle-specific magnetic plate holders, tailpipes, carbon parts and valve controllers.

i30 N facelift - about as clean as this gets
For the i30 N facelift we developed the holder so that it disappears into the grille completely. From the facelift on, Hyundai finally made the awkward black plastic plate frame removable - and we take advantage of that.
Our holders match the shape of the grille exactly and bolt straight into it at three points, where the three magnets sit. The colour matches Hyundai's grille precisely. The result: take the plate off and you see neither holder nor frame - only the original Hyundai grille. The three magnet points look like factory-fitted parking sensors: discreet and properly made.
i30 N pre-facelift - a clean look despite the moulded-in grille frame
On the pre-facelift i30 N, Hyundai had not got there yet - the black plastic plate frame is moulded into the grille and cannot be removed. So the completely invisible result of the facelift is not possible here.
Our answer: the pre-facelift holder bolts straight onto that original frame. The plate then sits neatly centred, permanently firm, and comes off by magnet at any time. The frame stays visible, but the obtrusive OEM plate with its screw mount is gone - a clear step up from standard.
How are the FLOW DOWN® holders fitted to a Hyundai?
The magnets are bolted with M4 screws, and where they go depends on the model:
- i30 N facelift: three magnets bolted into the grille (remove the frame first), with a precisely fitting ASA plate in the grille colour
- Pre-facelift i30 N: magnets bolted onto the moulded-in OEM frame in the grille
- i20 N and Kona N: magnets bolted at the factory screw points of the OEM plate mount
The ASA backing plates are bonded to the back of the plate with 3M VHB tape. On every model an ASA layer behind the magnet prevents direct contact with paint or bodywork.
Hyundai N with parking sensors or SmartSense - does it work?
Yes, without restriction. The FLOW DOWN® holders are designed so that neither the parking sensors nor the SmartSense features are affected:
- Parking sensors: they sit to the sides of the bumper, well clear of the plate area - on the i20 N, i30 N or Kona N alike. No effect whatsoever.
- SmartSense front camera: up by the rear-view mirror - the plate holder does not touch it.
- Radar sensor (for adaptive cruise control on the Kona N, for instance): usually behind the grille rather than directly behind the plate - the holder sits above or beside it.
What to know before buying a Hyundai holder
- Front, rear or set: choose in the variant picker. For the full look we recommend the complete set.
- i20 N and i20 N Performance: Hyundai uses the same front on both, so our holder fits either.
- i30 N performance package: the bumper geometry is identical to the standard N, so the relevant holder (pre-facelift or facelift) fits regardless of the package.
- Plate size: on every Hyundai both 520 x 110 mm (standard) and 460 x 110 mm (short) fit. Special sport plates on request.
- 3D plates: no problem. The raised areas left by the embossed characters on the back are securely enclosed by our thick 3M tape. We recommend warming the plate briefly with a hair dryer after sticking it on, so the adhesive flows around the rivets and bonds fully.

Frequently asked questions about Hyundai magnetic plate holders
What is the difference between the pre-facelift and facelift i30 N?
The main difference is the plate frame on the grille. On the pre-facelift the plastic frame is moulded into the grille and cannot be removed - it stays visible even without a plate, and our pre-facelift holder bolts onto it. On the facelift Hyundai made the frame removable, which allows a completely clean look: we take the frame off and bolt our precisely fitting holder, in the colour of the grille, straight into it. With the plate off there is nothing to see but the original Hyundai grille.
What does the i30 N facelift look like with the FLOW DOWN® holder when the plate is off?
Completely clean. Because Hyundai made the OEM plate frame removable on the facelift, we take it off and fit our holder precisely into the grille. The three magnet points are so small, and matched so exactly to the colour of the grille, that they look like factory-fitted parking sensors. With the plate off you see neither holder nor frame - only the original Hyundai grille.
Do the holders also work with 3D number plates?
Yes. On 3D plates the embossed characters create slight raised areas on the back. Our thick 3M tape encloses them securely and still bonds across the full surface. We recommend warming the plate briefly with a hair dryer after sticking it on - the adhesive then flows around the rivets and reaches full strength.
Does the holder fit every bumper version of my Hyundai N model?
Within a generation the plate position is identical across the standard N models. On the i30 N, though, the facelift changes a great deal, so we have two separate holders (pre-facelift and facelift). The i20 N and i20 N Performance share the same front, so one holder covers both. The Kona N has its own geometry and its own holder.
Does the holder interfere with the parking sensors or SmartSense on a Hyundai?
No. The parking sensors sit to the sides of the bumper, well clear of the plate area - on the i20 N, i30 N and Kona N alike. The SmartSense front camera is up by the rear-view mirror and is not touched. The radar sensor (adaptive cruise control on the Kona N) sits behind the grille, not directly behind the plate.
Where are the magnets fixed on a Hyundai?
It depends on the model. On the i30 N facelift three magnets are bolted straight into the grille after the frame has been removed. On the pre-facelift i30 N they bolt onto the moulded-in OEM frame in the grille. On the i20 N and Kona N they use the factory screw points of the OEM plate mount. Behind each magnet an ASA layer prevents direct contact with paint or bodywork.
Does the i30 N holder also fit a standard i30 without the N?
No. The i30 N has its own N bumper with a honeycomb grille and a deeper plate recess - completely different from the standard i30 or the i30 N Line. For those, our universal holder is the right choice.
My Hyundai model is not in the range - what now?
We keep extending the Hyundai range. In preparation: holders for the Hyundai Elantra N and Veloster N. If your model is not listed (Tucson, standard i30, Genesis and so on), the universal holder is a flexible alternative - or you drop us a message to ask whether a vehicle-specific holder is planned.
Do I need the same holder front and rear?
Yes - on the same Hyundai the plate positions front and rear match geometrically. Simply choose "front", "rear" or "complete set" in the variant picker. For a consistent look front and rear we recommend the set.
Can I fit the holder to my Hyundai myself?
Yes. The first fitting takes about 10 minutes and is straightforward with the enclosed instructions. All you need is isopropanol to degrease and a hair dryer to warm the tape. If you would rather leave it to us: at our workshop in Essen we fit it properly.
