Grail exhaust system Audi S3 8V

Loud but Legal

GRAIL flap exhaust systems with ECE type approval can be used on your EU vehicle without registration. They are made by hand in Germany from high-quality L304 stainless steel and produce an unmistakable sound that will give you goosebumps the first time you start the engine.
If you are driving an imported vehicle with an operating license, please find out before purchasing whether you need to have the exhaust system registered in your vehicle documents.

Loud – maximum volume

You ride your GRAIL loud but legally.

With the intelligent control you get the legal maximum out of your engine sound.

The use of highly effective silencers enables maximum volume and wonderful engine sound outside the test areas, because only in these are the flaps of your GRAIL closed and only when closed is the rear silencer part of the exhaust flow.

This is how we achieve pure engine sound and maximum volume.

Your GRAIL can also be quiet.

With a GRAIL you get two vehicles in one.

We use specially developed silencers, which are developed and adapted for your vehicle in the GRAIL sound laboratory. The combination with solid flaps is not only designed for maximum sound output when the flaps are open, but also for maximum damping when the flaps are closed.

If you drive your vehicle within the respective test ranges, your GRAIL will not be louder than the standard system. The highest quality and materials allow us to achieve the unmistakable delta between loud and quiet, which has been unrivalled for years.

FAQ

In the Sportback the 2.0 TFSI already gets a little more volume than the saloon thanks to the larger tailgate geometry. With GRAIL the full four-cylinder sound comes back - forceful, sporting, with pops on the overrun. In Comfort mode the system stays discreet. Exactly the range a daily driver needs.
GRAIL uses two valves in series instead of one, which widens the gap between quiet and loud considerably. Closed, the system stays ECE compliant and easy to live with. Open, the 2.0 TFSI comes through without compromise. A technical detail that sets GRAIL apart from many competitors.
You control the valves as usual through your Sportback's drive modes. In Dynamic both valves open; in Comfort or Efficiency they stay closed. Everything is operated through your Audi's factory MMI.
A matter of taste. The quad round 100 mm tailpipes look sportier and suit the Sportback character particularly well, especially in black or carbon. The twin oval 165 x 100 mm pipes are the OEM-plus choice for anyone who wants to stay closer to standard. The carbon version is the most exclusive solution.
If you have an HJS downpipe fitted - common with stage 2 or stage 3 tuning - choose the HJS version in the configurator. The GRAIL is then built with the matching interface. A standard S3 without a downpipe modification stays with "to standard".
No. The three S3 8V bodies (Sportback, saloon, convertible) each have different rear ends and mounting points. GRAIL builds a system for each. You will find the saloon and the convertible as separate products in the shop.
No. The RS3 8V has the 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder with a completely different exhaust. There is a GRAIL system of its own for the RS3 Sportback 8V in the shop, with a choice of the CZGB, DAZA and DNWA engine codes.
The lower back pressure and optimised routing make a small power gain possible. The main effect, though, is on sound and response. If you want a measurable increase, combine the system with a software upgrade - the larger cross-sections make it ready for stage tuning.
