Grail exhaust system Audi TT RS

Loud but Legal

GRAIL flap exhaust systems with ECE type approval can be used on your EU vehicle without registration. They are made by hand in Germany from high-quality L304 stainless steel and produce an unmistakable sound that will give you goosebumps the first time you start the engine.
If you are driving an imported vehicle with an operating license, please find out before purchasing whether you need to have the exhaust system registered in your vehicle documents.

Loud – maximum volume

You ride your GRAIL loud but legally.

With the intelligent control you get the legal maximum out of your engine sound.

The use of highly effective silencers enables maximum volume and wonderful engine sound outside the test areas, because only in these are the flaps of your GRAIL closed and only when closed is the rear silencer part of the exhaust flow.

This is how we achieve pure engine sound and maximum volume.

Your GRAIL can also be quiet.

With a GRAIL you get two vehicles in one.

We use specially developed silencers, which are developed and adapted for your vehicle in the GRAIL sound laboratory. The combination with solid flaps is not only designed for maximum sound output when the flaps are open, but also for maximum damping when the flaps are closed.

If you drive your vehicle within the respective test ranges, your GRAIL will not be louder than the standard system. The highest quality and materials allow us to achieve the unmistakable delta between loud and quiet, which has been unrivalled for years.

FAQ

That depends on the model year. Cars from 2016-2019 have the DAZA with 400 hp and an aluminium block, without a particulate filter. Cars from 2019 have the DNWA with 400 hp and a petrol particulate filter. The exact engine code is on the invoice or in the registration document. If unsure, just send us the VIN on WhatsApp.
Yes, in detail. The particulate filter damps the top end slightly and makes the sound a little warmer. With the GRAIL system, though, the DNWA gets back what the filter takes away in standard form - the result comes very close to the DAZA character. If you drive a DNWA anyway, GRAIL gives you uncompromised five-cylinder sound.
With two valves in series the range between quiet and loud is far wider than on standard systems with a single valve. Closed, the system stays within all noise limits - fully ECE compliant. Open, you get a full, unrestrained five-cylinder sound. A design feature that sets GRAIL apart from many competitors.
Through your TT RS's factory Audi valve control. Both valves respond automatically to the drive modes - in Dynamic they open, in Comfort or Efficiency they stay closed. No remote, no extra module.
The TT RS and the RS3 share the same 2.5 TFSI five-cylinder, so the character of the sound is identical. In detail the coupé radiates sound a shade more directly and gutsily, thanks to its shorter rear and closed tailgate format. GRAIL matched the system precisely to that coupé acoustic.
No. The Roadster has its own rear and exhaust geometry because of the folding roof. There is a GRAIL system of its own for the TT RS 8S Roadster in the shop.
No. The TT RS 8J (2009-2014) has a different engine (CEPA, 340 hp) and a completely different exhaust geometry. There is a GRAIL system of its own for the 8J in the shop.
Brushed stainless steel is the classic sporting choice and suits the elegant coupé look, especially on light paint. Matt black is more aggressive and suits a black package or dark wheels. Both have the same oval shape (170 x 107 mm).
