The Audi SThe 3 Sportback 8Y is the ideal blend of everyday practicality and performance – five doors, a large tailgate, 310 hp from the 2.0 TSI engine, and all-wheel drive. However, the sound Audi has subjected the Sportback to doesn't suit its character. With the GRAIL flap exhaust system, the Sportback gets the sound that matches the driver profile: a powerful TSI sound in Sport mode, a crisp throttle response, and a subtle rumble in cruising mode.

Completely made of LMade of 304 stainless steel, handcrafted in Germany. With ECE type approval, you can travel throughout the EU without registration – no TÜV appointment, no registration bureaucracy.

Sportback instead of sedan – why separate systems?

Audi designed the rear end of the Sportback variant differently than the sedan version. Different tie-down points, different muffler geometry, different tailpipe mounting. GRAIL therefore manufactures a custom-fit exhaust system for each body style. This one is exclusive to the... SDesigned for the Sportback 8Y – those who drive a sedan will find the system manufactured for it as a separate product in the shop.

Flap control – Plug-and-Play to the Audi driving modes

You don't need a remote control or an additional control unit. The GRAIL connects directly to your Audi's factory-installed exhaust flap control. S3 in:

• Dynamic mode: Flaps open, full GRAIL sound
• Comfort / Efficiency: Flaps closed, discreet and ECE-compliant

Operation remains the same as usual via your Audi's MMI – nothing about the vehicle's operating logic changes.

Selection in the configurator

Before ordering, you choose:

• Model year: Pre-facelift or facelift
• Downpipe connection: On a standard or HJS downpipe
• Tailpipe variant: 5 designs to choose from

Downpipe connection

• A series: The standard case – the GRAIL is attached to the factory downpipe of your S3 connected.
• To HJS: If you have an HJS downpipe installed (common with Stage 2 / Stage 3 setups), select this option. The GRAIL is manufactured with the appropriate interface for HJS.

Tailpipe options – five designs for the Sportback character

• Double-flow oval (170 × 107 mm) in brushed stainless steel: Classic sporty, wide – it matches the Sportback rear and the factory diffuser.
• Double oval (170 × 107 mm) in black: Same shape, understated appearance – matching the black package
• 4-flow round (100 mm) in brushed stainless steel: Four round tailpipes – more aggressive rear look
• 4-flow round (100 mm) in black: Aggressive and eye-catching, ideal for stealth setups
• 4-flow round (100 mm) in carbon: Four tailpipes with genuine carbon fiber covering – a premium choice, harmonizing with the carbon fiber diffuser and rear attachments.

Material & workmanship

LCompletely made of 304 stainless steel. CNC-precision machined components, acoustically tuned in the GRAIL sound lab specifically for the 2.0 TSI engine. S3 8Y tuned – taking into account the Sportback's rear acoustics, which differ from the sedan due to its larger rear end. Solid stainless steel flaps, precisely actuating, durable for everyday use.

• 50% deposit upon order placement – we will then order the system from GRAIL
• As soon as the system arrives at our workshop, we will arrange an installation date with you.
• You only pay the remaining amount after the installation has been completed – not before.

Important: The deposit payment option applies exclusively to bookings including installation and is only available via prepayment/bank transfer. PayPal or other payment methods are not accepted for this service.

Swiss suitability assessment

Upon request, you can receive a Swiss suitability assessment for the GRAIL system for an additional fee. If interested, simply contact support.

Registration-free thanks to ECE type approval – applies to all EU vehicles with standard registration. For imported vehicles with a different operating permit, please check registration requirements before ordering. The ECE type approval certificate should be kept in the glove compartment.
