The RS4 Avant - finally as fierce as it looks

The Audi RS4 Avant B9 with its 2.9 TFSI twin-turbo V6 and 450 hp makes a statement visually - angular arch extensions, oval tips, a wide track. From the factory, though, Audi keeps it noticeably quiet. That is exactly where the GRAIL valved exhaust system comes in: it finally makes the RS4 sound the way it should - hugely present, deep and full-blooded. And still comfortable on long journeys, without intrusive frequencies dominating the cabin.

Made entirely from L304 stainless steel, flow-optimised and with a near-factory fit for clean, original-looking integration. Hand-made in Germany, with ECE type approval - so no registration is required on any EU vehicle with standard type approval.

Valve control via the Audi driving modes

The GRAIL system uses the factory Audi valve control of your RS4. The valves respond to the car's driving modes:

• Dynamic or RS mode: valves open - the full GRAIL sound
• Comfort or Auto mode: valves closed - restrained and ECE-compliant

You operate it as usual via the MMI of your RS4.

• Exhaust tip version:Twin oval (stainless steel or black) or without exhaust tips

Exhaust tip versions

Version 1: twin oval in brushed stainless steel

Classic and sporty, with a refined look at the rear - a good match for the elegant character of the RS4 Avant. The oval tips pick up the lines of the factory rear trims and sit in the diffuser much like the original parts.

Version 2: twin oval in black

An understated yet bold look - a good match for the black package or dark wheels. The same shape as the stainless steel version, but with a matt black coating.

Version 3: without tips - for aftermarket exhaust tips

If you would like to use your own aftermarket tips - carbon tips from another manufacturer, special sizes or a custom design - choose the "without tips" version. The GRAIL system is then supplied without the factory GRAIL tips, and you can fit the tips of your choice yourself or have them welded on by a specialist. That saves you the cost of the GRAIL tips and leaves you completely free to style the rear end.

Material and workmanship

Made entirely from L304 stainless steel, with flow-optimised pipe routing that minimises back pressure when the valves are open. The silencers are tuned in the GRAIL sound lab specifically for the 2.9 TFSI twin-turbo V6 - a deep, full bass character that suits the angular look of the RS4. The valves are machined from solid stainless steel, switch precisely and are designed for continuous use in a performance estate. The near-factory fit ensures clean integration with no adjustment work.

On request you can obtain a Swiss suitability certificate for the GRAIL system for a surcharge. If you are interested, simply contact our support team.

Compatible vehicles

• Audi RS4 Avant B9 (DECA, 450 hp)

Not suitable for: Audi RS5 B9 (different body type - coupé / Sportback), Audi S4 Avant B9 (different engine and exhaust system), Audi RS4 B8 (previous generation with the 4.2 FSI V8). There are separate GRAIL systems for each of these models.

Road-legality notes

No registration required thanks to ECE type approval - valid for all EU vehicles with standard type approval. For imported cars with a different operating permit, please check the registration requirements before ordering. The ECE type approval belongs in the car's glovebox.
