The BMW MThe 2 F87 with the N55 inline six-cylinder engine is a cult car among M-Fans – compact, rear-wheel drive, with the last N55 engine in one M-vehicle. From the factory, the sound insulation significantly suppresses this character. The GRAIL valve exhaust system brings out the full potential of the N55: a powerful, raw six-cylinder sound with classic... M-Characteristic and the distinctive GRAIL delta between loud and quiet.

Completely made of LMade of 304 stainless steel, handcrafted in Germany. Thanks to ECE type approval, no registration is required for use in all EU vehicles. Ready to drive immediately after installation; no registration is necessary.

Choose your valve control – standard or ECE R-59

At the MWith the F87, you have a free choice regarding the flap control – both variants work technically flawlessly, but differ in noise measurement according to current standards:

Series flap control: The factory-installed BMW flap control of the M2 is completely adopted. The flaps react exactly like BMW's. M it was designed from the factory – via the MSport mode. Technically flawless, however, the OEM control system is based on an older type approval. In the speed range between 20 and 80 km/h, the valves can remain open longer, which means the system may exceed current noise limits in modern measurements.

GRAIL ECE R-59 Control: GRAIL's proprietary control system automatically closes the flaps within the prescribed speed range of 20–80 km/h. This ensures the system remains compliant with regulations at all times – even during a current inspection according to ECE R-59 standards. Recommended for anyone who spends a lot of time on the road and wants maximum safety.

Tailpipes – stainless steel or black

For the tailpipes, you have the choice between two classics:

• Brushed stainless steel: Sporty and elegant, high-quality look at the rear – matches the classic M-Look
• Black: A subtle yet aggressive look – especially well-suited to a black package and dark rims.

Material & workmanship

LMade entirely of 304 stainless steel, with CNC-precision machined components. The silencers were specially tuned in the GRAIL sound lab for the N55 inline six-cylinder engine of the M2. Flow-optimized pipe routing minimizes exhaust back pressure. The solid stainless steel flaps switch precisely and are durable enough for everyday use.

Upon request, you can receive a Swiss suitability assessment for the GRAIL system for an additional fee. If interested, simply contact support.

Suitable vehicles

• BMW M2 F87 – Bj. 2016–2018 (N55-Motor)

Not suitable for: BMW M2 Competition (S55 engine, different exhaust system), BMW M2 CS F87C (S55-engine), BMW M2 G87 (S58-engine, separate system available in the shop). Separate GRAIL systems are available for each of these models.

Information on admission

Registration-free thanks to ECE type approval – applies to all EU vehicles with standard registration. For imported vehicles with a different operating permit, please check registration requirements before ordering. The ECE type approval certificate should be kept in the glove compartment.
