Does the V.2 stick out further than the V.1?

At the outer corners yes. In the centre there is little between them; the difference only shows from a three-quarter view - the V.2 sets the bumper corners off more clearly.

Is the front lip enough on its own or do I need the side skirts too?

It works on its own but on a saloon over four metres long it reads as a single detail. Only together with the side skirts does a continuous line emerge along the whole car - that is the combination that makes the biggest difference.

Do I have to have the V.2 front lip entered in the papers?

No, a parts type approval is in place. Fitting needs no registration entry; you just carry the papers.
