Made from dry carbon prepreg in an autoclave, fitting precisely on the factory mounting points. With part type approval, no registration is required in Germany.

Most aftermarket carbon front splitters only come with a material certificate and require individual approval under §21 StVZO (German law). This splitter has part type approval - which saves you the inspection appointment, the registration fee and the paperwork. Ready to drive with a valid vehicle registration document.

Provide your vehicle identification number (VIN) when ordering

The part type approval is personalised and only valid together with the vehicle identification number (VIN). You enter your VIN when ordering. We record it in our system and issue the approval document for your vehicle - so you can drive without registering the part. Without a VIN the document cannot be issued.

Material

Dry carbon prepreg made in an autoclave. Pre-impregnated carbon fabric is cured under pressure and heat - higher strength, lower weight, flawless visible finish. The standard is classic 3K carbon with high-gloss UV lacquer, UV-stable and non-yellowing.

Forged carbon available on request

Available on request in a forged carbon finish. Surcharge from +25 %, made to order with a longer lead time. Please contact FLOW DOWN® support before ordering.

What does the type approval mean on this carbon front lip and what do I gain?

A parts type approval means the front lip needs no registration entry in Germany. You save the inspection appointment and the registration fee. Most aftermarket carbon parts only have a material certificate and must be inspected individually under §21 StVZO - with a type approval that falls away entirely.

Why do I have to supply my vehicle identification number when buying the front lip?

The type approval is personalised and valid only in combination with your vehicle identification number. You enter the VIN when ordering, we register it in our system and issue the document for your car. Without a VIN we cannot hand the approval over - and without the document the front lip is not exempt from registration.

What is the difference between classic carbon and forged carbon, and which suits my M3 or M4 better?

Standard is 3K classic carbon with the classic weave and a high-gloss UV lacquer - the established carbon look that suits most paint colours. Forged carbon has an irregular, marbled structure and is a more distinctive look. Forged carbon is available on request - surcharge from +25%, a slightly longer lead time; contact FLOW DOWN® support beforehand.

Can I fit the carbon front lip myself or do I need a workshop?

The lip mounts via the factory fixing points. Anyone who has worked with body add-ons before and works cleanly can do it themselves. For a flawless result we recommend fitting at FLOW DOWN® in Essen - we have been fitting body kits and carbon parts in the Ruhr area for years. Our own workshop, no referrals to third parties. The body kit fitting can be booked directly in the shop.

Does the carbon front lip survive a car wash and how do I care for it properly?

Yes, car washes and self-service washing are no problem. The UV lacquer protects the carbon against yellowing and weather. Kerb contact or heavy stone chipping can mark the lacquer - that applies to any carbon part. For vulnerable areas we recommend paint protection film.

Which FD line suits my BMW M3 G80 or M4 G82 best?

Material, production, type approval and warranty are identical across all four lines - only the design differs. FD Streetline is the subtle variant with near-OEM geometry, FD Trackline is sportier, FD Aeroline is aggressive with a pronounced splitter, and FD Performance sits sportily in between. If you are unsure which suits your car and your style, send us a photo of your M3 or M4 - we are happy to recommend the right line.
