Made from dry carbon prepreg in an autoclave, fitting precisely on the factory mounting points. With part type approval, no registration is required in Germany.

With part type approval, the canards require no registration in Germany. No inspection appointment, no individual approval under §21 StVZO (German law), no registration fee.

Provide your vehicle identification number (VIN) when ordering

The part type approval is issued in your name for your vehicle identification number (VIN). You enter the VIN when ordering, we record it in our system and enclose the approval document with the delivery. Without a VIN the document cannot be issued.

Which carbon canard version is right for my M3 G80 or M4 G82?

The FD Performance is the most pronounced of the three canard lines - striking geometry, a clearly recognisable race accent. For anyone wanting a clear statement at the front. FD Streetline is subtle, FD Trackline sits in the middle, FD Performance is the most uncompromising.

Is the performance version exempt from registration despite its pronounced geometry?

Yes. The parts type approval is independent of the design - all FD canards are exempt from registration in Germany. You save the inspection appointment and the §21 StVZO individual inspection. The condition: your VIN is supplied when ordering.

Why do you need my chassis number and what happens with it?

The type approval is personalised to your VIN. We register it in our system and issue the document for your car. It comes with the delivery and must be producible at roadside checks. Without a VIN we cannot issue the approval.

Are the carbon canards bonded or screwed to the bumper?

The canards mount via the factory fixing positions - firm hold, no warping. For DIY fitting, clean work is a prerequisite. For the best results we recommend fitting at FLOW DOWN® in Essen - our own workshop, no third party.

Are the performance canards available in forged carbon too?

Yes, on request. Forged carbon with its irregular, marbled structure is available at a surcharge from +25% - custom-made with a longer lead time. Contact support before ordering.

Do canards really do anything on the road?

At everyday speeds the aerodynamic effect is minimal - this is primarily about the look. If you want the M3 or M4 to look sportier without rebuilding a whole front end, the Performance canards are the right call.
